If you notice that you are finding it more difficult to get out of bed, stay awake at work, say ‘yes’ to plans, and are constantly craving sleep then this is a sign of extreme exhaustion/fatigue. Burnout causes this and it is an indicator that your body needs time to relax and recharge. You can also notice this when it comes to your physical health too. You may find you aren’t putting in any effort to your appearance or exercise.
Low Mood And Lack Of Motivation
If you notice a difference in your mood for a consistent period of time, that is starting to affect your everyday life, this is another sign of burnout that should be addressed. This sign can lead to anxiety and depression, so it is important to recognise it. You may feel you are in a negative mindset and you have no desire or motivation to put in effort to things you normally would. Many people experience this at work, where they no longer strive to be the best they can be.
You can experience physical symptoms of burnout. This may include headaches, stomach-aches, or any type of aches and pains that will not subside. Sometimes this can happen in the neck and jaw when stress takes over. Chronic stress will ultimately affect your mind and body one way or another if it is not dealt with.
Lack of Patience/Increase Frustration
Many people experience a lack of patience when they are feeling burned out. This may start with something small, and have a snowball affect on those around you. You may also feel frustrated at minor situations or people for no reason. This is another sign that you should listen to your body, and take the time to focus on yourself, changing your mindset and adopting a calmer approach.
