Types of Office Buildings

Office buildings are large structures used for business purposes, consisting of commercial buildings (e.g., warehouses, retail stores, convenience stores), office buildings (e.g., shopping centers, office towers, shopping malls, etc. ), and sometimes apartments (e.g., condominiums, hotels, or serviced apartments). In urban areas, an office building can combine commercial and residential functions, like offices on various levels, retail on different floors, along with apartment complexes (a mix of commercial and residential units). A common type of office building is a tall office building (which is the most common size), with an office at ground level, usually at the top. Most office buildings have parking spaces, but they may also have free parking areas (and in some cases, an offsite carport). These buildings are often located close to public transportation, either via rail or bus. Other types of office building are usually two stories high, have a higher second story, which is a separate structure or can be three stories tall.

Some office buildings may have retail spaces on the upper levels and sometimes an office at ground level. Others may have an upper level for retail (with a higher floor for the retail). Office buildings may have multiple floors of retail space, where customers can go to buy their items. In addition, some office buildings may be designed to be more like apartment buildings with single-storey units on each floor. Some office buildings even have an upper floor that is an apartment, where tenants can live in separate apartment units, rent from one apartment complex to another, without having to share a living area with any of their neighbours.

Office buildings come in all shapes and sizes. It’s important to choose an office building that meets your needs. There are many types of office buildings to choose from, so it pays to do a little research before choosing a location for your new office. The best approach is to speak to estate agents and try to let them know your needs as a company so that they can find a suitable office for you.
